Carrying and bags
Bags, rigs and belts
What each bag, chest rig and belt adds. You wear one on your back, one on your chest and one on your belt. The largest size is the biggest kind of item that fits inside it.

Take a bag off full and everything stays inside it.
Pockets and hands
What you can carry with no bag at all, and how heavy things are moved.
| Pockets | 8 slots and 10 kg, for pocket-sized things only. A slung or holstered weapon uses a slot but not the weight. |
| Hands | One thing at a time. You can lift 50 kg alone, and up to 30 kg more as your lifting improves. |
| Two-handed carry | Anything large, hands-only, or 8 kg and over is carried in both arms: you walk, and you cannot sprint, jump, climb, use a weapon or get into a vehicle. |
| Heavy items | Anything over 25 kg never goes in a bag. Carry it in your hands, or put it in a vehicle, a stash or on the ground. |
| Hand Truck | Carries up to 250 kg. You feel 15% of the load. Hold it, then put the heavy item in your hands to load it. |
Size classes
Every item has a size, shown on its page. The size decides what it can go into. Weapons, ammunition, magazines, worn gear, tools, clothing, armor and medicine are never limited by size.
| Pocket-sized (S) | Small things: tools, food, medicine, ammunition, most gear. | Pockets, rigs, belts and every bag | |
| Bulky (M) | Bulky things: sacks, firewood, stone, bricks, hides, fuel cans. | Any bag, never a pocket | 75 |
| Large (L) | Large things: logs, a full jerry can, planks, small kits. | Only the bigger packs: Field Backpack, Hiking Pack, Military Rucksack | 54 |
| Hands only (XL) | Too big for any bag: vehicle parts, generators, the big building kits. | Hands, a vehicle, a stash or the ground | 187 |
What a load does to you
Your load is everything on you, measured against your comfortable load (100%). The heavier you are, the slower, louder and more tired you get.
| 50% | Light | 100% | x1 | x1 | x1 | Yes | Yes |
| 85% | Light | 100% | x1 | x1 | x1 | Yes | Yes |
| 100% | Loaded | 100% | x1 | x1 | x1 | Yes | Yes |
| 125% | Heavy | 95% | x1.34 | x1.14 | x1.15 | Yes | Yes |

Swimming costs stamina above 60% load, and above 100% a swimmer who runs out of stamina is dragged under.
You can never pick up more than 150% of your comfortable load into bags and pockets.
Your comfortable load
What you carry comfortably depends on your build: 25% of your body weight, and never less than 14 kg. The clothes on your back count as 2 kg.
