Vehicle classes
The four classes of vehicle you can restore at a garage. A restoration starts from a frame tag and needs every part listed, your Crafting proficiency at the class's level and the Engineering proficiency shown.

Fuel
Every gas station is dry. Fuel comes from siphoning abandoned vehicles and from a fuel still. Homemade share is how much of the homemade-fuel penalty a liter carries.

Fully homemade fuel burns 1.4 times as fast, is 1.25 times as loud at the exhaust, wears the engine with every liter and stalls more.
At full revs a tank lasts about 87 minutes in a bike, 52 minutes in a car, 37 minutes in a truck, 26 minutes in a armored chassis. Idling burns 12% of that, so mixed driving roughly doubles it.
Siphoning takes 0.65 seconds a liter, up to 20 liters a go. Pouring a can in takes 0.42 seconds a liter.
An abandoned vehicle holds 5% to 35% of its tank the first time anyone checks it, and a wreck up to 6 liters. Where fuel is scarce, the locals drained them first.
Starting, stalling and crashing
A vehicle is a machine that has sat for over a year. Hold the ignition key to crank it.

| Battery | Cranking drains 1.2% of the battery a second. Under 10% the starter only clicks. A running engine charges it at 0.15% a second; lights left on with the engine off drain 0.037% a second. |
| A rough engine | Under 40% engine health it can stall under load or at idle. |
| Running dry | Under 2% of the tank the engine sputters and may die. |
| A dying engine | Under 15% engine health it makes 60% power and tops out near 44 mph. |
| A hard crash | Hitting something at 40 mph or more can break parts by where you were hit, and may jam the horn on, which brings the infected. |
