Emotes, pointing and walk style
Point with a key, the emote menu, quick slots, shared emotes, walk style and mood.
Press B to point where you're looking. Your arm follows the camera, and everyone around you sees it. Press it again to stop. You can't point in a vehicle, while aiming, or while you're down.
The emote menu
Open it with F4, from the field kit (M, then People > Emotes) or from the pause menu. The sections are Gestures, Actions, Sit / Lie, Props, Shared, Walk style and Mood. Type to search every section at once, and press Enter to play the first match.
- Moving stops most emotes. The ones you can walk with keep going: carrying a box, a hot drink, reading, notes.
- Press X to stop any emote, including sitting and lying down.
- Starting an emote puts away the weapon in your hands. You can't start one in a fight, in water, while you're held or down, or in a vehicle. A few gestures marked Seated OK still work in a seat.
- Star an emote to keep it under Favorites. Press a number on an emote to put it on a quick slot, and play it from anywhere with EMOTE_SLOT1 to NUM 4. Press the slot again to stop it.
Shared emotes
A handshake, a hug, carrying someone over your shoulder, or a piggyback. Pick one and the survivor nearest you is asked. They press F4 to accept or X to decline, and nobody can be pulled into one. Either of you can stop a carry at any time with X.
Walk style and mood
Walk style is the same bearing you picked in the mirror, and your choice is saved with your survivor. A hurt leg, or fear, exhaustion or grief, can still change how you walk. Your own walk comes back when that eases. Mood sets the look on your face at rest, and it stays until you change it.
B used to open the secure pouch. The pouch is on F1 now, and it's always in your inventory (F2), near the bottom of Equipment, just above your clothes.
