Story, journal and codex
Your story log, the tracker, the Codex and the service record.
A.P.O.C has a long story, told in acts, with choices that are yours alone. It's sacred ground: key missions play in your own private world or your squad's, so nobody can grief them.
- Story log (J): your acts and quests, what's done, and what's next. Pick which quest to track.
- Objective tracker (O): the tracked step on the HUD. Tap to show or hide it, and hold to peek.
- Codex (L): everything you've learned. People, places, documents, items, schematics and the chronicle.
- Messages in the field kit: every notice you've had, in case you missed one.
- Service record in the field kit: your stats and achievements.
Finding your way
Most steps put a marker on your map and compass. Some give you a search area or directions over the radio instead, so you have to look. If you're lost for a few minutes, the marker comes back.
With a squad
Squadmates on the same step within about 150 meters share the credit and the cutscenes. Each of you still makes your own choices, and you can help a friend through a mission you've already done without anything being spoiled for them.
Story items can't be lost. They stay with you when you die.
